Chickpea Chansons de Geste

a taste sensation

Kabuli chickpeas are large, round and creamy white in colour with a nutty flavour, they are cooked whole with fresh ginger, coconut and sweet potato and an array of spices including turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, mustard seeds and coriander.

Australia grows rather a lot of chickpeas- 258,000 tonnes last year - and exports about 95 per cent so Pod helps to keep the produce at home.

Nutrition

Chickpeas are cholesterol-free and low in fat, yet high in fibre, protein and complex carbohydrates. They have a low glycemic index and are high in vitamin B and completely gluten-free.

Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of vitamin A. They are also a very good source of vitamin C and manganese. In addition, sweet potatoes are a good source of copper, dietary fibre, vitamin B6, potassium and iron.

Coconut enhances the aroma and taste and the short-and medium-chain fatty acids of coconut milk are easily and quickly assimilated by the body, they are not stored as fat in the body like the long chain triglycerides of animal products.
